Hoover Travels to the Taiwan Strait!

Friday, October 5, 2018

Eric Wakin, Robert H. Malott Director of the Library & Archives, and Hsiao-ting Lin, Research Fellow and Curator of Modern China Collections at Hoover, recently visited Taiwan on the sixtieth anniversary of the 1958 Taiwan Strait Crisis to discuss archival cooperation. Here Eric Wakin holds the latest copy of Hoover Digest on the Taiwanese Island of Matsu, overlooking The People's Republic of China. Hoover's collections help to illuminate the history of the international crisis, one of several in the 1950s in which the use of nuclear weapons were considered.
