In July the Library & Archives hosted its annual Workshop on Authoritarianism and Democratic Breakdown, which brings together scholars from across the globe to discuss authoritarian regimes and research in the Hoover Institution’s reading rooms. The workshop was led by Princeton historian and Hoover Senior Fellow Stephen Kotkin, and featured a lecture by Stanford historian and former Hoover National Fellow Lisa Blaydes entitled “State of Repression: Iraq under Saddam Hussein.” Participants in the workshop used Hoover collections to study a wide range of nations, including Russia, Iraq, China, and Korea.
