A delegation from Armenia visited the Hoover Institution on October 29, 2008, headed by Mushegh Tumasyan, the deputy minister of the economy. Their letter expressing interest in visiting Hoover stated that “the objective of the trip would be to enhance cooperation and partnerships with California universities, organizations, and companies involved in trade and economic development in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Russia. A visit to the Hoover Institution would be insightful and beneficial for the Armenian government delegation, given the Institution’s strong history of public policy and economic research on Russia and the former CIS countries.” They also visited the archives to view materials related to Armenia.
