The Asia Society and the Hoover Institution’s National Security Task Force and Project on China’s Global Sharp Power invite you to Chips, China, and Taiwan’s Security: A report from the field on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 9:00 am PT.

In late August of this year, a dozen scholars from the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and the Asia Society arrived in Taipei for a long-planned post-pandemic research trip. But the visit was no ordinary one. Coming on the heels of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s high-profile congressional visit—and the PRC's aggressive military reaction—the delegation found their hosts grappling with what has been called the Fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis. Join this live, virtual session for reflections from members of that diverse delegation on what they heard over a week of consultations with Taiwan’s political leaders, security community, domestic think tanks, and leading semiconductor firms.
