The Hoover Institution hosted the Energy Task Force meeting on Monday, December 12, 2011, to discuss the Department of Defense’s contribution to strategic energy issues, specific programs of the Department of Defense’s Energy Policy and Service, and the US military and the future of energy, its challenges and opportunities. George P. Shultz, chair of the Energy Task Force at the Hoover Institution, led the meeting, which included honorable guests Sharon Burke, assistant secretary of defense for Operational Energy Plans and Programs; Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, assistant secretary of the navy (energy, installations, and environment); Terry Yonkers, assistant secretary of the air force (installations, energy, and environment); Katherine Hammack, assistant secretary of the army (installations, energy, and environment); Vice Admiral Daniel T. Oliver, USN (Retired), president of the Naval Postgraduate School; Rear Admiral Philip H. Cullom, USN, director of the Energy and Environmental Readiness Division; and Richard Andres, National Defense University.
