Amy Cubbage

Biography: 

Amy E. Cubbage serves as Reactor Policy Advisor to Commissioner Ostendorff. She has 25 years of experience at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission including 10 years in various leadership positions within the NRC’s Office of New Reactors.  She lead ESBWR design certification and also oversaw the development of guidance, policy, and rulemaking for both large light water reactors and small modular reactors. Cubbage holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia.

The responsibility to review and license SMRs falls to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which has been closely watching small modular reactor developments and is currently conducting detailed pre-application reviews.
