Per Enge is the Vance and Arlene Coffman Professor of Engineering at Stanford University, where he is the director of the Center for Position Navigation and Time. His research is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and directed at safe and secure air navigation. His work has led to two navigation systems that are deployed worldwide. He received his PhD in 1983 from the University of Illinois. Since then, he has become a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and president of the Institute of Navigation. In 2012, the US Air Force inducted him into the GPS Hall of Fame.
