Yvonne Chiu is a professor of strategy and policy at the US Naval War College and works on just war theory, international ethics, comparative political thought, and authoritarianism.  While at Hoover, her research focuses on authoritarianism in Hong Kong and East Asia.  Her book, Conspiring with the Enemy: The Ethic of Cooperation in Warfare, won the North American Society for Social Philosophy’s Book Award for 2019 and the International Studies Association’s International Ethics Section Book Award for 2021.  She has published articles in leading political science and philosophy journals, including the Journal of Politics and the Journal of Political Philosophy, and occasional essays on foreign affairs. She has been a member of the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, New Jersey), a professor of politics at the University of Hong Kong, and a postdoctoral fellow at the Political Theory Project (Brown University).
