This week, the House Select Committee on the CCP released their investigative report into U.S., Japanese, and Dutch companies that sell advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment to the PRC even as the United States seeks to prevent the PRC from building an advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry.

In a massive escalation, the PRC introduced sweeping extraterritorial export controls on advanced semiconductors by claiming that the existence of small quantities of rare earth elements means that Beijing has jurisdiction to control their export.  This step could impact AI chips, advanced smartphone chips, and the chips in laptop computers.

In another escalation, the PRC announced sanctions against more than 60 entities, including researchers who have exposed Huawei’s deceptive practices.

Bloomberg writes that the Chinese Communist Party is seeking to use its economic leverage to get the Trump Administration to abandon national security restrictions and walk away from support for Taiwan.

Even as these actions take place, the Wall Street Journal reveals how Beijing side-steps U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil by creating a barter system.

In the New York Times, Kenneth Vogel releases details of how Hunter Biden sought to help a CCP controlled company purchase the land surrounding the U.S. Embassy in Romania during and after his father’s time as Vice President.
