
Lieutenant Colonel Roy Collins
Roy Collins, representing the US Air Force, was a national security affairs fellow for the academic year 2013-14 at the Hoover institution.
Collins earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the US Air Force Academy, master’s degree in space studies from the University of North Dakota, and a graduate certificate in organizational management from George Washington University. He is a career security forces officer with experience in nuclear security operations and force protection. He has served in various staff positions, including director, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Commander’s Action Group, responsible for implementing the commander’s strategic vision. As chief of the Security Forces Operations Branch, he directed Integrated Defense, Antiterrorism, and Air Provost Services. Additionally, he served as deputy director, Force Protection, and was responsible for air force security operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and led responsible draw-down and build-up operations for deployed security forces’ units.
