Anastasia Nichols, US State Dept, was a national security affairs fellow for 2009–2010 at the Hoover Institution.

Nichols is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a career member of the United States Foreign Service. She is a political officer, serving most recently at the U.S. Embassies in Kabul, Afghanistan, and Islamabad, Pakistan, from 2008 to 2009 and 2007 to 2008, respectively. Her other overseas tours have included Sweden, Kosovo, Bosnia, Egypt, the United Kingdom, and Israel. Nichols' domestic tours have included the State Department Operations Center, the Foreign Service Institute, and a liaison detail to NORAD/USNORTHCOM.
