Andrey Simonov is Gary Winnick and Martin Granoff Associate Professor of Business at Columbia Business School, working on the industrial organization and political economy of digital media markets. His recent work examines in which dimensions news outlets compete for attention and how they persuade the public. Applications include persuasion of US cable news in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the role of censorship and propaganda in the online news market in Russia. His other work studies product design and competition in advertising and entertainment markets. Simonov received a PhD in quantitative marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
