Jonathan Herzog was a national fellow at the Hoover Institution and was in residence from April 1 through June 30, 2009.

Herzog's research interests include the political uses of religion, the history of political moderation, and the shaping of American political culture. He is the author of The Hammer and the Cross: America’s Holy War against Communism (forthcoming, Oxford University Press) and is currently working on a book project titled Farewell, Yankee GOP. Herzog holds a BA in political science and history from the University of Nebraska and a PhD in history from Stanford.
