Biography: 

Ryan Kendall, representing the US Navy, is a national security affairs fellow for 2012–2013 at the Hoover Institution.

Kendall is a 2001 graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, with a bachelor of science in history. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University. A surface warfare officer, Kendall has served in cruisers and destroyers in the Pacific Fleet. His sea tours include assignments as chief engineer on the USS Preble (DDG-88) and as damage control assistant and force protection officer on the USS Princeton (CG-59). Ashore he has served as a defense trade analyst at the US Department of State; a flag aide to the commander, Combined Joint Task Force–Horn of Africa; and an engineering assessor for the Pacific Fleet. He was also a navy Washington, DC, intern, completing rotations in the offices of the Navy Staff, Joint Staff, and Legislative Affairs.
