Lieutenant Colonel Nate Foust, representing the US Army, is a national security affairs fellow at the Hoover Institution for the academic year 2025–26.

Foust commissioned as a US Army engineer officer in 2006. Over the past nineteen years, he served in a variety of command and staff positions in the United States, Germany, Italy, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In addition to operational assignments, Foust served on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon, both in the Operations Directorate (J-3) and Office of Director of the Joint Staff. His most recent assignment was as a battalion commander in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Lieutenant Colonel Foust earned a bachelor of science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and master of science degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
