Commonwealth Club Moves Into New Home

quoting George P. Shultzvia SF Gate
Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Most first-time homeowners celebrate their new abode with, perhaps, a bottle of wine or a dinner out in the new neighborhood. The Commonwealth Club on Tuesday toasted homeownership with a short parade, a fireboat show and a performance by the San Francisco 49ers’ Noise Drum and Flag Team. A block of Steuart Street was closed as club members listened to speeches.

File Under 'Nobody Cheers For Goliath': California Wanting To Vote Early In 2020

by Bill Whalenvia Forbes
Monday, September 11, 2017

It turns out that there’s a fine line between California dreaming and California scheming. Just ask Democratic state lawmakers who want to advance the state’s presidential primary as early as possible in 2020 – to early March and at the front of the line after the opening caucuses and primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.

CA Gov. Jerry Brown’s Failed Shadow Presidency

quoting Bill Whalenvia Canada Free Press
Thursday, September 7, 2017

While California drowns in debt, its public schools are failing and ranked with some of the lowest reading scores in the country, criminals are being let out of prison and jails and crime is spiking, water is cut off to our farmers, illegal aliens and “refugees” are arriving in droves as Democrats are trying to pass legislation making California a sanctuary state, one dam we know of may still blow apart (who knows about the rest…), bridges are falling down, highways are crumbling, and Democrats flout federal election laws by allowing millions of illegals to vote, Jerry and his corrupt Democrats in the statehouse (and feckless Republicans) are introducing bills at lightning speed to add regulations, massive tax increases, more gun control, restricting more freedoms, all while prattling on about climate change and nuclear war.

A resident of my city of Pacific Grove recently did a huge service on Facebook by linking to a site that gives pay and pensions for state and local government workers. It's breathtaking.

Sacramento Finds Appeasement Won't Work On Gangs

quoting Bruce Thorntonvia NewsMax
Wednesday, September 6, 2017

The city of Sacramento, California, voted unanimously to pay local gang members $1.5 million not to kill people. They’re paying bullies not to be bullies. Didn’t the U.S. try something similar with Iran and North Korea? How did that work out?

In a recent speech to Republican donors, John Cox, a candidate for California governor, exuded the kind of optimism that could only come from an underdog. “Republicans can win in California,” he said, repeating the line twice during his speech.

California’s Bully Federalism

by David Davenportvia Townhall
Saturday, September 2, 2017

California’s travel ban, forbidding the expenditure of state money to travel to states that have policies they don’t like, is what I call “bully federalism.”

Kamala Harris, Flash And Style, Can’t Measure Up To Dianne Feinstein

by Bill Whalenvia Sacramento Bee
Thursday, August 31, 2017

I won’t try to guess Feinstein’s move. But I hope she’ll consider what’s best for her and for California – and seek another six-year term until, maybe, someone with her gravitas comes along.
