The Hoover Institution hosted a HESI workshop at the Hoover Institution, Washington DC on Thursday, September 19, 2019 through Friday, September 20, 2019.
Over the course of two days in September at the Hoover Institution’s Washington D.C. campus, the Hoover Education Success Initiative hosted two topical workshops with contributing paper authors and invited respondents.
On Day One, three paper authors presented first drafts of their research and analysis of different aspects of educator compensation systems—with respondents from the education policy and advocacy community offering critique and provocation for the full working group. On Day Two it was a similar format, with three different paper authors and topical respondents catalyzing a discussion on high school graduation requirements and pathways. HESI team members engaged in the workshop as participants with the responsibility of creating the institutional paper in the months that follow. Throughout the working group, they denoted questions asked and points of interest on each topic. The working group is an essential part of the Initiative’s idea and recommendation development process, as it jumpstarts the writing of the HESI institutional paper and sets-up the HESI Symposium that occurs later that year.
