The Hoover Institution’s Task Force on Energy Policy met at the Hoover Institution on June 23. Task force members discussed “A Primer on Synthetic Biology: An Emerging Paradigm of Genetic Engineering,” as well as energy efficiency, distributed energy, and the paper “Past Must Not Be Prologue.”

The Hoover Institution’s Boyd and Jill Smith Task Force on Virtues of a Free Society dinner was held in the Nicolas de Basily Room of the Hoover Tower on June 9. Task force member Bill Damon delivered before-dinner remarks on his most recent book, The Path to Purpose: Helping Our Children Find Their Calling in Life.

Hoover senior fellow Daniel Kessler presented a talk titled “Prospects for Health-Care Reform in Obama’s First Congress” on June 4. The event, sponsored by Hoover overseer Bill Blount and his wife, Nancy Blount, took place at the Arlington Club in Portland, Oregon.

Kessler also presented his talk at a dinner at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. The dinner discussion was sponsored by Hoover overseer Donald Tykeson and his wife, Willie Tykeson.
